Niacinamide and Osteoarthritis: An Overlooked Micronutrient?

Introduction
Osteoarthritis, a chronic joint disease, and one possibly related to metabolic factors, and metabolic syndrome, continues to be a highly prevalent painful disabling condition with few modes of intervening successfully at any stage of the disease.
Aim
To examine what is known about the micro nutrient niacinamide and its various analogues and its possible utility for intervening favorably to mitigate the progression of osteoarthritis.
Methods
The PUBMED, SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, GOOGLE SCHOLAR electronic data bases, as well as a general Google search were employed to locate pertinent articles on the present topic using the key terms: niacinamide and osteoarthritis.
