Abstract

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) has become a common disorder growing in line with theobesity epidemic. Simply fatty liver can be a completely benign condition but can raise the risk of heart disease, diabetes, cirrhosis and liver cancer, due to metabolic inflammation and scarring. In this mini-review pathogenesis, pathophysiology, course and treatment of NAFLD are discussed.
